About Me
Beyond the TV Personality & Personal Trainer
I like to play!! I have to dabble in just about everything as you will see if you keep
reading! I love meeting people and sharing a good laugh.

Taking a step back in time...
I'm from the Northwest, between Portland and Seattle. I've always enjoyed
performing. When I was younger I played the cello, piano and the flute. I actually
traded in my cello for a flute because it was easier to carry on the bus (bad
choice). I took ballet and was the lead in several theatre productions. Sports took
over as I got a little older. I played soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball and ran
track. I grew up in a sports family. My dad and grandpa where both football and
track coaches, so needless to say my younger sister and I were quite active. My
love for sports led me to Eastern Washington where the Seattle Seahawks had
their summer training camp during the years I attended EWU. I thought I wanted
to be a physical therapist for a professional football team. Funny how things
change!! Oh don't get me wrong though, I still love to be out on a football field! A
series of events then led me to an internship at KIRO TV in Seattle, and that's
how I ended up doing the television thing. Really, it shouldn't be a surprise. I've
been a talker all my life. I like meeting people and learning about them (even as a
kid in class when I was supposed to be quiet). In high school I told my mom I
needed a job where I could talk and use my energy because I kept being sent to the
hall to calm down or quiet down. I was never in trouble, just needed to be less
outgoing in during class time.

A character building experience...
I played some soccer in college. My sports career was shaken at the end of high
school and the start of college. My Junior year of high school I came down with
mono and had to take time off from training. When I finally felt better I jumped
into playing soccer seven days a week and started to roll my ankles. That led to a
stress fracture and broken foot my Senior year of high school. I still wanted to
try and play Division I soccer so I started training as soon as the Dr said my foot
was ready. Rolling ankles again, I broke both feet a week apart right after my
Freshman soccer season and came home to have screws put in my feet. Do you know
how hard it is to maneuver with two broken feet?! You do learn, but it's not easy. I
was stuck in a wheelchair and home from college for a short time. Bum deal!! This
really was a humbling experience for me. I took a year off from soccer and went
back to play spring ball my sophomore year.  I trained and was in my best shape
ever (with the exception of my current fitness level). I think I needed to prove to
myself that I could come back a play some.

Leadership...
It all started as row leader in 6th grade (maybe even line leader at a younger age).
Too funny! I started taking on leadership roles, some in Jr High, but more so in
High School. I was Jr. Class President and Sr. Class Co-President. Also as a Senior
in high school, along with other student leaders we developed KASL (Kelso
Associated Student Leaders). I trained younger students in school and community
leadership. I was a part of HOBY (Hugh 0'Brien Youth Leadership) and WASC
(Washington Association of Student Councils). I worked on a forum against youth
violence and suicide in Cowlitz County. I attended  the Teen Leadership Program in
Washington State and was given the Ambassador Award and Athletic Award. In
college I was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority (actually a women's fraternity). I
graduated with a BS in Organizational Communication and minors in both
Journalism and Government. I held various leadership positions including President
of Lambda Pi Eta, EWU’s Communications Honor Society, Vice President of PRSSA
and Vice President of Panhellenic Council.  You never know who you'll have an
impact on through your personality, humility and generosity...just several
characteristics of a effective leader.

Life...
I enjoy spending time with my husband and our dog Jeta. My husband is a powerline
apprentice for Cal-Nevada. He's always been supportive of my crazy ideas and
there have been quite a few!! I thank God for all He's blessed us with from health
to jobs to you name it. Jarrod and I enjoy working out together (in fact, we met at
the gym in college) and like to try new outdoor activities. Most of my spare time
lately is spent studying Meteorology through Mississippi State and working out to
stay healthy.
